(Lowes &#038; Home Depot will accept LiIon batteries, but not alkaline).<\/p>\n<p>On my last trip to IKEA Atlanta, I was disappointed to find the following sign covering the hole that used to be the battery recycling station.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/ikea_atlanta.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/ikea_atlanta-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Sign stating that IKEA no longer recycles batteries\" title=\"ikea_atlanta\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2178\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/ikea_atlanta-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/ikea_atlanta-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/ikea_atlanta.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course, whoever is in charge of their website hasn&#8217;t yet gotten the memo yet:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/idea_website.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/idea_website-300x117.png\" alt=\"IKEA website saying that they DO recycle batteries\" title=\"ikea_website\" width=\"300\" height=\"117\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/idea_website-300x117.png 300w, https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/idea_website.png 945w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I really doubt that the U.S. Department of Transportation has issued a regulation that says IKEA can&#8217;t recycle batteries.  Perhaps just that they can&#8217;t recycle them to a 3rd world country&#8230;.and IKEA is very good at reducing costs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IKEA has long been my go to place for recycling used alkaline batteries and eating cheap hot dogs.
