I bought an 8&#8243; inner tube and 50 yards of Aluminum Duct tape so I wouldn&#8217;t run out. <\/p>\n<p>Then I went off-label and added a 4&#8243; Big Daddio anodized aluminum personal pie pan which I&#8217;m going to try as a mounting system.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/inner_tube_daddio_pie_pan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/inner_tube_daddio_pie_pan-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"inner_tube_daddio_pie_pan\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2739\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/inner_tube_daddio_pie_pan-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/inner_tube_daddio_pie_pan-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/inner_tube_daddio_pie_pan.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After drilling a hole in the base of the personal pie pan, I wrapped it and the inner tube with aluminum tape. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/torroid2_closeup.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/torroid2_closeup-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"torroid2_closeup\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2741\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/torroid2_closeup-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/torroid2_closeup-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/torroid2_closeup.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>After this picture was taken I had to extend the aluminum tape down to cover the hole in the pie pan, as the anodized aluminum pie pan was apparently not conducting. After I did that I got less than 300 ohms resistance measurement from the outside of the toroid to ground.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/torroid2_on_coil.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/torroid2_on_coil-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"torroid2_on_coil\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2740\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/torroid2_on_coil-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/torroid2_on_coil-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/torroid2_on_coil.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The size of this toroid is much closer to spec, although the Big Daddio pie pan holds it about 1&#8243; higher than a straight piece of cardboard. Unfortunately, when I measured it&#8217;s resonance, I found a big signal at 340 kHz, (2.93 micro-seconds) which is even higher than my first toroid!
