{"id":3947,"date":"2016-06-25T21:50:57","date_gmt":"2016-06-26T02:50:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/?p=3947"},"modified":"2016-07-02T15:50:13","modified_gmt":"2016-07-02T20:50:13","slug":"inexpensive-cooling-ducts-with-hardware-store-parts-for-my-dual-chargers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/2016\/06\/25\/inexpensive-cooling-ducts-with-hardware-store-parts-for-my-dual-chargers\/","title":{"rendered":"Inexpensive cooling ducts with hardware store parts for my dual chargers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an effort to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/2016\/06\/20\/tsm2500-ch4100-chargers-overheating\/\">counteract overheating<\/a>, I have added cool air intakes connected via 4&#8243; diameter ducts to the fans on my TSM2500 (CH4100) chargers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/finished_ducts.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3948\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/finished_ducts-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"finished_ducts\" width=\"584\" height=\"779\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/finished_ducts-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.summet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/finished_ducts-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I used a 4&#8243; flush to the floor &#8220;snap-in&#8221; PVC floor drain (designed to be cemented inside of a 4&#8243; PVC pipe) spray painted flat black as my intake, connected to a 4&#8243; aluminum flex dryer hose (mostly ran straight through, but the flex hose allowed me to vary the length) with worm screw clamps (a.k.a. hose clamps). The single most expensive part of the install was the 4&#8243; hole saw ($15 on ebay, or $20 at the store). tool required was a right angle drill, which made it possible to create the holes without removing the enclosure from the truck. Going through two layers of sheet steel with the 4&#8243; hole saw did exercise the drill.
